The shots are good, but the content kind of feels like it is all over the place. The video could have done without the chat with her new neighbor, but the details about her finally buying a home is a nice change of pace from what is all of the news now about people selling and downsizing. Some of the audio also runs into each and seems somewhat cramped. And still some of the shots do nothing for the video and would be just fine without it.

I think this is an interesting look at the recession and how it is affecting people.  The tight shots are nice, but the lighting with the actualities are the best.The quick tight shots   at about :16 would look more neat if they moved a bit slower, you barely register what is even going on the first time around.

The lead was somewhat unique, and Ewen doesn’t use narration very often, but it really works with this story. I liked the tight shots of the production board and the notebook with the lyrics, it shows both sides of the music production field that most people never think of. Some of the actuality is hard to understand with music playing in the background, and I think using the audio with the curse words in it was bad choice because that forced him to have to edit in a “bleep” which I felt did nothing for the video. The ending was somewhat boring with little variety in shots.

For starters the title is not AP style, which is a huge red flag in my book. But the opening wide shots are a good introduction.  The still photos from the crash add to the story in a positive way. It is a hard news story, with facts and witness interviews with no detail of the who the people in crash actually were, which is something you don’t see much in multi media videos. So many of them are features with emotion in them, this; however, is a very straight forward clip about the facts of the crash itself.

Some of the shots in the opening 15 seconds are a bit boring and because those have been seen over and over, but it was nice to see actualities from the team in this video. I like what Ewen does when music is played and he puts his clips in time with the rhythm and the beat. Some of the detail shots aren’t as strong either. But again, the actualities and the natural sound are good and help the video a lot.

This is a short, but quirky story. It takes a look at the state fair in Minnesota from a different angle. The audio makes this a very interesting piece with the shouts and the response from the customers about the twinkies. One of my favorite shots is the one of him pulling the twinkies out of the deep fry, you can see the twinkies and the brown crip they have turned into as the oil drips off. It describes the whole video in about 3 seconds. But, in one of his actualities, or interviews, you can see the microphone which looks very unprofessional.

The blurs at the beginning could have been executed better, only a couple were actual blurs with a focus. However, the photos moving to the theme music of Monday night foot ball was an artistic touch that greatly added to the piece.  The audio definitely makes the video by adding a moving feeling to the piece. Making the photos fit the audio is what really makes the video more interesting and worth watching. I feel it is a nice summary of the game; however, natural sound would have added more to the piece.

The quick shots in the beginning go perfectly with the fast drum line rhythms. And, the different angles add to the video in a nice, fresh and interesting way. I think it is interesting that the team and the players aren’t the main focus, but the fans are. It is a unique way to look an athletic-based story. The game photos are a nice addition, instead of blurred video footage. Ewen gave the highlights of the game in way that kept the video moving but still keeping the focus on the stadium and the atmospher and not so much the game, I found this interesting as well.

I feel like there is definitely enough tight shots and the interview shots and the medium shots are nicely done with the rule of thirds.  I like the actualities of the music through out the whole piece.  Even though the video clip is blurred out I feel it adds to the emotion of the subject and adds to the video, I think if it was just the audio it still would not have made the same affect. The tight shots of the candle vigil are nicely done as well.

It is an emotional subject, Ewen does a nice job of making it personal by not crossing the lines of the family and survivors. I like the still shots mixed with the video clips, and no clip lasts too long. The natural sound against the actualities and interviews blends nicely, it looks like it was windy, rainy day, but the audio is not compromised because of that. The filter put behind the text slide is a nice touch to make the text more readable. One thing I think that could have been done better is getting a wider variety of shots. I didn’t see enough tight shots in my opinion.
